Who we are
In 1988, a Canadian job strategies initiative called Mager Women Working was started at Victor Mager School. The program provided training to single mothers on social assistance whose children attended Victor Mager School. The goal of the initiative was to help these women achieve economic independence.
This mandate continued for a few years until it became clear that the program needed to become more flexible to address the changing needs of the participants. The VM Job Re-Entry Program was restructured after careful planning and assessment.
The program uses the concept of individualized training based on the clients' past work history, interests, skills, and motivation. Current job market opportunities are also taken into consideration. This structure continues to date with very successful results.
